Ginger, an incredible ingredient with many health benefits, has been used in traditional medicine for centuries. Originating from Asia, it is known for its natural antibiotic properties. In this article, we will guide you on how to grow ginger at home, even if you don’t have a garden. All you need is a sunlit window!

Getting Started

To begin your ginger growing journey, you will need to “awaken” the ginger. Start by soaking it in water and potassium permanganate (available at pharmacies) for about 2 hours. Place the ginger in a plastic bag, seal it, and let it sit until it begins to sprout. This process is shown in photo 2.

Planting Ginger

Once the ginger has sprouted, cut a piece for each sprout. For example, if there are 8 sprouts, cut the ginger into 8 pieces. Prepare a pot with soil, adding some humus and sand. Mix them together with the soil.

Now, it’s time to plant the ginger. Follow the guidance shown in photo 3, ensuring that the sprout can grow towards the sunlight. Remember to water the soil when it becomes very dry. Be mindful not to add too much water, as it may cause the roots to rot.
