Orchids are truly captivating plants that bring beauty and magic into any home. What makes them even more fascinating is their ability to grow in unique ways. One such method is the steam method, which allows the orchid roots to grow quickly, healthily, and robustly. Let’s delve into this technique and discover how to grow orchids with the steam method.

The Power of Garlic Powder

Believe it or not, garlic powder is the secret ingredient for enhancing orchid growth. This common kitchen staple is packed with vitamins and nutrients that are excellent for plant development. Start by taking a teaspoon of garlic powder and pouring boiling water over it. Once the mixture is ready, strain it through cheesecloth or a cloth and add half a liter of water. This garlic-infused mixture will now be used to spray the leaves and roots of the orchid plant.

Creating the Steam Method Setup

To create the steam method setup, you’ll need an empty plastic bottle and a pair of scissors. Cut off the top portion of the bottle’s cap, around ten centimeters in length. This cut part, shaped like a funnel, will serve as the main component for our steam method setup. Make several holes just above the opening of the funnel-shaped cap.

Planting the Orchid

Now it’s time to plant the orchid using our steam method setup. Before doing so, remove any dry or dead roots from the plant. Place the perforated funnel-shaped cap in the other half of the bottle and position the orchid inside. Use pieces of styrofoam to fill any gaps. Fill the remaining half of the bottle with water, ensuring that the water level only partially touches the roots. Find a bright area to position the setup and water the orchid abundantly.

Transferring to a Larger Container

Once the orchid’s roots have grown through the holes we made, it’s time to transfer the plant into a larger container. This allows the orchid to continue its growth freely. With healthy roots and vibrant flowers, you’ll be amazed at how beautiful your orchids will look.
